Sandton Convention Centre: 2011 Fourth quarter events, exhibitions and trade shows

The Sandton Convention Centre will be hosting a number of events, exhibitions and trade shows in this final quarter of 2011.

The 12-storey Sandton Convention Centre has more than 22 000 m² of meeting, exhibition and special event space. Multiple events can be staged simultaneously on four levels and up to 10 000 visitors can be accommodated at any one time. Room capacities range from a 10-seat function room to the Pavilion, which can cater for 4 500 cocktail guests.

There are 26 escalators in the two escalator wells of the centre, so delegates can enter and exit the building quickly and efficiently. The Sandton Convention Centre is surrounded by nearly 11 000 parking bays, situated in three big parking arcades. The security system is such that the building can be evacuated in a matter of minutes, should the alarm system go off.

This structure was expertly designed to provide convention, exhibition and special event space over four main levels. It combines spectacular double and triple-volume use of interior space in its main and public areas, with smaller and more intimate break-away meeting rooms and galleries on its mezzanine levels. Its extensive glass frontage creates an open, inviting façade from where delegates can view the world.

The main foyers and several of the meeting rooms enjoy natural daylight and excellent balance, while the terraces and balconies offer guests an opportunity to enjoy nature during conference breaks. The building has also been designed to accommodate and provide access for disabled visitors.

JOBURG ART FAIRE
The Joburg Art Fair was started three years ago by Artlogic with First National Bank as the primary sponsor. It is the only art fair on the African continent and the only art fair in the world to focus on African contemporary art. Over the three year period it has become a meeting place for those interested in African contemporary art. The Joburg Art Fair is a small, boutique fair committed to showcasing the best galleries interested in this region. As it is the only large scale annual visual arts event in South Africa, the Fair makes an effort to give exposure to artists who work outside of the gallery circuit and routinely curate spaces for tertiary institutions, or project spaces that result from proposals submitted to Artlogic. Afrimold is the leading exhibition for mould-making, tooling, design and application development in South Africa. Afrimold 2010 received a highly successful response from the international and South African industry.
