Now, I have to be honest and admit that I have only played Qolf once. I’d better be more honest and admit that I came stone cold last. But the fact that I had a lot of fun (and the bottle of red wine I won for being last) more than made up for the pitying looks and consoling pats on the back.
Qolf is a game that can be described as a combination of golf and croquet. It was invented by three South African schoolboys who were trying to improve their golf game, but is now popular in
At Avianto, they have a 6000m² mini nine hole qolf course, complete with tee boxes, greens fairways and bunkers. It’s fun for the family and also ideal for serious golfers (those ones who feel sorry for people like me), as it is good practice for golf.
More importantly, though, a Qolf Day is much more fun for everyone than a Golf Day. It doesn’t matter whether you do or don’t have a huge bag of putters, slicers and whatever all those other evil looking clubs are called; it doesn’t matter that you don’t have a shirt with a ‘Proudly XYZ Golf Club’ on; it doesn’t matter that you don’t have your own personal golf kart. All that matters is that you’re there to have fun and that anybody and everybody can join in.
Unlike on a golf course, for your Qolf day you could make up some of your own company rules. The course has numerous “Sponsors” areas for interaction with the players during the game, making this a fantastic option for fundraising qolf days. The entire venue may be hired for the day for an event like a car launch but a morning or afternoon private qolf day would accommodate most clients looking for an exclusive experience.
The Qolf Course can accommodate up to 36 people at a time and for Qolf Days and Corporate Challenges, a shot gun start is implemented. This means that four people on each tee start simultaneously and rotate until each team has completed 9 frames. Structured on this basis, the course will accommodate 36 people every 30 to 40 minutes. In many cases, the competitors will want to play two or three 9 frame rounds per competition.
Avianto's Qolf Clubhouse has been labeled the Flagship of Qolf. The facilities include a clubhouse overlooking the qolf course with a patio, qolf bar and complete change room facilities for ladies and gents. Elevated above this and overlooking the pool and qolf course are two small function rooms, a lounge and a supper deck with an open plan kitchen.
Various private function menus are available. These include snacks and canapés but also selections such as:
